WEBINAR: Star Rating Methodology


Program Overview
In 2015, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) introduced star ratings to the hospital compare website. This initiative to add 5-star quality rating is intended to make it easier for patients to use and understand the information currently included on the compare website. This webinar will provide attendees with information on star rating methodology and how to use star ratings.

•Discuss what CMS star ratings mean to hospitals. 
•Examine how to use CMS star ratings.

Quality management/performance improvement professionals, utilization management professionals, case management/discharge planners, safety officers, nurse executives/registered nurses and compliance officers. 

Speaker Biographies
Akin Demehin is a director of policy at the American Hospital Association (AHA) in Washington, DC. Demehin leads and supports public policy development and advocacy efforts related to quality and patient safety on behalf of AHA’s nearly 5,000 member hospitals and health systems. He manages policy issues related to national quality reporting and pay-for-performance programs for hospitals, post-acute care providers and physicians. Before joining AHA, Demehin worked at the National Quality Forum and the Center for Quality and Safety at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Demehin holds a master’s degree in health policy and administration from Yale University and a bachelor’s degree in history and science from Harvard College.
