ADVANCED CREDENTIALING & PRIVILEGING CONCEPTS
Day 1
- In this program we will take an in-depth look at current standards including credentialing, privileging, FPPE and OPPE, telemedicine and documenting competency. Tips for compliance will be discussed and sample tools, policies, procedures and bylaws language will be provided.

JOINT COMMISSION STANDARDS FOR THE HOSPITAL MEDICAL STAFF
Day 2
- This program provides an in-depth overview of more difficult to understand aspects of credentialing, recredentialing and privileging, including evaluating and documenting practitioner competency, dealing with low and no volume providers, handling information received "off the record", engaging and orienting medical staff leaders, avoiding confirmation bias in credentialing decisions, and understanding negligence in credentialing.  The speaker will cover tips for compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements, and provide sample tools, policies and procedures. Lecture will be reinforced with table-top exercises and other discussion-based sessions. The speaker will leave adequate time to discuss issues and answer questions.

FACULTY:

Kathy Matzka, CPMSM, CPCS
Kathy Matzka is a speaker, consultant, and writer with over 25 years’ experience in credentialing, privileging, and medical staff services. She holds certification by the National Association Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) in both Medical Staff Management and Provider Credentialing. She has authored and contributed to a number of books related to medical staff services including Compliance Guide to Joint Commission Medical Staff Standards; The Medical Staff Meeting Companion: Tools and Techniques for Effective Presentations; The Credentialing and Privileging Desk Reference; The Credentials Verification Desk Reference; Medical Staff Standards Crosswalk: A Quick Reference Guide to The Joint Commission, CMS, HFAP, and DVN Standards; and The Chapter Leader's Guide to the Medical Staff: Practical Insight on Joint Commission Standards.
