It’s More than Supply and Demand: The Significance of a Physician Needs Assessment

Course Curriculum
Speaker Randy Gott will focus on the critical nature of a physician needs assessment for hospitals. He will explain how the assessment plays a significant role in the overall development of a hospital’s medical staff and how it impacts recruitment efforts, recruitment strategy, and compensation paid to recruited providers. 
The session will cover fair market value and commercial reasonableness in recruitment and overall provider compensation. The unique tie between the needs assessment and compensation compliance will also be explored. Emphasis will be placed on the development of a compliant recruitment process.


Learning Objectives
1. Explain how a community needs assessment (CNA) can determine, through qualitative and quantitative factors, if their medical community is meeting its the needs of the community. 
2. Describe how fair market value and commercial reasonableness plays into creating a recruitment strategy.
3. Differentiate between specific providers and primary care providers, and explain how that makeup can increase an organization’s progression toward increased population health management.
