Course Curriculum
Every hospital that has an emergency department and accepts Medicare or Medicaid reimbursement must follow the federal law and CMS interpretive guidelines on Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA).
Finally, Part 3 will cover how EMTALA is involved in various hospital processes including medical screenings, certification of false labor, telemetry, when hospitals can go on diversion and who can be a Quality Metrics Partner (QMP). She will also review requests for medication, blood alcohol tests, emergency medical conditions, OB and behavioral health patients and the QIO’s role within EMTALA.
