WEBINAR: EMTALA Compliance

Course Curriculum

A hospital emergency department’s (ED) primary focus is to take care of patients. Every effort is made to have the right physicians, right supplies, staff and equipment to provide emergent medical care. While there can be long discussions about emergent versus urgent versus clinical presentations, the bottom line is that the ED must be able to accommodate a wide range of care scenarios and must be equipped to provide all necessary services.

During this program, our presenter will discuss compliance concerns related to ED care. First, there is the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA). Second, there are various coding and billing issues that may vary based upon the given third-party payer. While the hospital may have a general compliance plan, there is a need for specialized policies and procedures relative to special compliance considerations for the ED. Conducting audits is one way to determine whether there are weaknesses in compliance and consideration of auditing documentation is the other. Join us for this important discussion!

Learning Objectives
