PROGRAM OVERVIEW
When helping clients with ostomies, wounds with high output or fistulas, an intact seal makes all the difference in skin health, quality of life and number of ongoing issues. Knowing which product to use will improve the patient’s wellbeing. This webinar will discuss all aspects of ostomy treatment and care.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Describe wound management for wounds with high output or fistulas.
Determine optimal appliance and accessories for ostomy clients with body contour challenges.
Formulate a care plan for a client with colostomy or ileostomy based on effluent type.

Joan Junkin provides clinical consults for long-term care and hospice in Nebraska and teaches as a clinical associate for University of Nebraska College of Nursing in Lincoln. She began her wound specialty as a research analyst for the pressure ulcer guideline treatment panel in 1992. During her 10 years as an acute care wound clinical nurse specialist, she conducted and published research and served as chair of the national accreditation committee for the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society educational programs. Junkin has published articles in several peer reviewed journals and has presented seminars to professionals in all 50 states and four Canadian provinces.
