This training is intended for healthcare staff and emergency responders who, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and its ongoing effects, face unique leadership challenges.

This educational activity will provide healthcare professionals working in or aspiring to leadership positions with a baseline knowledge of the impact of crisis on themselves and team members, leadership skills in times of crisis, and information on elements for effective leadership in a healthcare setting. Leaders will also be introduced to the role of Psychological First Aid while working and leading in times of crisis. The training will be validating and informative for professionals who have previously worked or been guided through a crisis and will inform those who have not on what to expect.

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  1. Identify at least two tools that will help them support or lead their team in times of crisis.
  2. Describe the basic tenets of situational leadership and explain its application in times of crisis.
  3. Use the Situational Leadership Model to list at least two qualities exhibited by a good team member during times of crisis.
