Rural and Small Hospital Resources

Approximately 57 million Americans live in rural areas and depend upon the hospital in their community. Remote geographic location, small size, limited workforce, physician shortages and often constrained financial resources pose a unique set of challenges for rural and critical access hospitals.

The shift from volume to value exists at all levels. Reimbursement, organizational shift in allocation of resources, and how staff interact with the patients are all areas of emphasis for the leadership of rural hospitals.

MCQW partners with the rural hospitals to provide resources for education, quality and safety programs, recruitment and retention, and leadership training.
