Baptist Golden Triangle adds Endocrinologist to medical staff

 
Abir, Zainal, MD, endocrinologist, has joined the staff at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle. She is in practice at BMG Golden Triangle Endocrinology, at 2402 5th Street North, Columbus, MS  39705. The telephone number is

Originally from Bahrain, Zainal received her medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in Dublin, Ireland. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Unity Hospital at Rochester Regional Health in Rochester, New York in July 2020. Zainal completed a fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts in June 2022.

She is a member of the Endocrine Society, the American Thyroid Association, The American College of Physicians, the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland and the Irish Medical Organization. Zainal is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

During her residency, Zainal was recognized with several awards including the Humanist Award, the Residents Choice Award, the Unity Hospital 2020 Endocrinology Scholarship Award, the Unity Hospital 2019 Recognition of Excellence by Nursing Staff Award - Unity Hospital 2018; Intern of the Month – three months Unity hospital 2017; Resident of the month – two months, Unity Hospital, 2018-2019.

Her specialties include diabetes mellitus type 1 and 2, Thyroid disorders including cancers, hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism, certain cancers of the endocrine glands and adrenal disorders.
Zainal volunteered at the University of Massachusetts Hospital, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in Dublin, Ireland and for the Ireland Red Cross Society in Dublin, Ireland.
In her free time she enjoys painting and drawing, yoga classes, hiking, cooking and trying different cuisines.
