NMMC Honors Walden with Daisy Award

North Mississippi Medical Center presented its most recent DAISY Award to registered nurse Jarrett Walden, charge nurse on 3 Central. “Jarrett always has the most positive attitude that spreads to his peers,” a coworker wrote in his nomination. Jarrett recently stayed with a patient who had no family present as she was dying. “He took this patient on as a family member and made sure not to leave her side so she wouldn’t be scared or alone,” she wrote. “He brought joy into a sad situation, and the patient held his hand for comfort. Jarrett has a true servant’s heart.. thank you for loving a stranger as your own.”

A graduate of Falkner High School, Walden earned his bachelor’s degree in nursing from Mississippi University for Women in 2020. He resides in Corinth. Walden received a certificate, a DAISY Award pin, a bouquet donated by Bishop’s Flower Shop and a hand-carved stone sculpture titled A Healer’s Touch. The DAISY Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary compassionate and skillful care given by nurses every day. Nomination forms are available throughout NMMC or at www.nmhs.net/daisy-award. For more information, call (662) 377-3431 or email [email protected].
