Baptist Anderson Regional Medical Center recently recognized the Mother/Baby/Pediatric Unit as DAISY Nursing Team of the Year! The DAISY Team Award is designed to honor teams that identify and meet patient and/or family member needs by going above and beyond the traditional role of nursing. Last year, the pediatrics services within the facility were moved to the mother/baby department. This team accepted the challenge, banded together, and successfully added the new patient population to their care. In 2024, the department began performing couplet for mother and baby in the same room. Previously, a nursery nurse cared for the infant while a post-partum nurse cared for the mother. With couplet care, a single nurse cares for the mother and the infant as a pair. This team became educated on caring for well-born infants and integrated this care model into their department. They have managed to adapt to these changes with virtually no employee turnover or vacancy.
