Center for Rural Health

What is our core mission?

Much of the state depends on small rural and critical access hospitals for healthcare and economic stability.  MHA’s Center for Rural Health provides guidance, resources, and advocacy for these hospitals across the state. Recognizing the challenges, from workforce to payment and access to capital, the Center seeks to understand the unique needs of our rural communities.

In addition to informing MHA’s strategies and priorities, the Center makes available to its hospitals:
  • Education and Communication
  • Advocacy and Policy
  • Resources and Grants

The Mid-South Critical Access Hospital Conference celebrates its 23rd year this August, welcoming nearly 200 CAH C-suite leaders, management teams, community partners, and rural health advocates. Set in the heart of Louisiana and surrounded by its renowned southern hospitality, this premier event brings leaders together to focus on the future of healthcare in rural communities. Participants will enjoy valuable peer-networking opportunities and earn a variety of educational credits through the American College of Healthcare Executives, as well as continuing education and contact hours for healthcare professionals.
